It takes a lot to make me smile on a Monday morning but I've found the perfect remedy for a dreary start to my working week...

"I will believe it when pigs fly"... well believe it because ONYN creates playful artwork that push the boundaries of reality with a whimsical wink. Robots enjoying bubble baths, skateboarding cats and animated teapots make up some of the fascinating canvases. It may sound like the plot line for a children's overly-imaginative book but in fact you have just stumbled across the themes for ONYN artwork. This group of artists are inspired by the most simple things in our everyday environment. Affectionate images of pet dogs doing everyday human tasks and secret trysts between insects illustrate how ONYN combine the perfectly ordinary with the completely unexpected.

It may feel like you've entered the over-active mind of a child who creates characters out of inanimate objects and gives a human personality to the family cat. And yet these highly talented artists have produced an extensive series of artwork which is capturing the hearts of people around the world. The art group are based out of East London and since 2012 have been adding to their collection and rapidly growing popularity.

Their work has clearly matured from their early pieces and ONYN have expanded on their choice of subject matter but still maintain that mischievous and creative spirit. The aesthetics are particularly interesting as the central focus is on the subject matter against a bare, bold background - the artists don't feel the need to fill up the entire canvas or give their whimsical characters a setting which is quite refreshing. These canvas paintings will appeal to everyone's inner child and tickle any sense of humour. The pieces pay tribute to the simple pleasures in life such as ice cream cones and allow the observer to step back into their childhood with these bold and fun images.

The artists have poured life into robots, created characters from the world of nature and given life to inanimate objects. The vibrant, colourful pieces feature everything from animals, food and robots going about a variety of activities. The endearing images ignite the imagination with a variety of scenes including my favourite in the beautifully captured moment when boy bumblebee meets girl bumblebee.
