“A painter should begin every canvas with a wash of black, because all things in nature are dark except where exposed by the light.” Leonardo da Vinci
"I felt a tremendous affinity with Van Goghs deep feeling for the things he painted and how he exaggerated the colours of sky, chairs, faces, to bring them to almost more than life." Susan Rothenberg
“I am seeking. I am striving. I am in it with all my heart.” Vincent van Gogh
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” Thomas Merton, No Man Is an Island
“Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one” Stella Adler
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” Edgar Degas
“Creativity takes courage. ” Henri Matisse
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.” Martha Graham
“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”Ansel Adams
What if I want to purchase original art only?
Our artists can sell either prints or originals. Some choose to only offer prints with Fine Artists World Gallery, but offer originals out of their studio. Others offer only original art. I'm trying to match a color, how do I do that?
All monitors are not equal and color shifts can be quite dramatic. If you are selecting a print to match a color then it is recommended you view the art you are interested in on at least two monitors before placing an order. The color is correct on our end, and the prints that arrive are what the artist intended, but to avoid a surprise please check on a few monitors first. The art will also look different on a dark color or patterned wall papered walls. Try different locations for the placement of the art and see what happens.
From an article in Art Talk "Buying Art for your Condo":
Show Off Your Art
When you walk into a gallery or museum, what do they all have in common? White walls and lots of light. If a wall is papered or painted in a bold color, it limits the choices for hanging art. Keeping your walls neutral allows you to explore color in your art. A bold wall color can also change how you see the art as shown by the swatches here. Believe it or not, the centre square is actully the same color. The true color can be viewed in tha last swatch.
What is the best way to hang a canvas?
Most of our customers hang the print right on the wall, but framing is always an option.
Do you offer framing?
No. In our opinion framing is an art in itself and we want you to support and use your local framers. In most cases the art is a custom size and will not fit into a standard frame. The framer will be able to help you decide on the best frame to show off your art and also fit in with your home.
